DESCRIPTION: Peguche Waterfall




Located in Peguche's town, to only 5 minutes to the northwest of Otavalo's city. Peguche's Waterfall is a beautiful jump of water of 18 m of height, formed by the waters of the river of the same name, it starts at San Pablo lake  






The waterfall is the first most important touristic attraction of Otavalo city. Due to his nearness and easy access, several tourists and visitors come to the sector to know and to enjoy it the only landscape.






A wonderful way across the forest of eucalyptuses near the community allows to the visitors to come to Peguche's waterfall. The community has worked intensely to create an attractive and informative way to come to the sacred waterfall.







This site is considered to be a ceremonial indigenous center, since here baths of purification are realized to give beginning to the holidays of the Inti Raymi or holiday of the Sun and the crops.

  • We have been to Peguche waterfall five months ago. 
  • It´s the highest waterfall in Peguche town.



  • My best friend asked me: How high is it?

I answered: It´s 20 meters high. I´ve been hiking many times here with my boyfriend.


  • After Katy called me and asked: How far is it from Ibarra? 

It´s 23 kilometers far from Ibarra.



  • When Katy came to the waterfall, we´ve decided take pictures in the principal waterfall. 

After we went to the second waterfall and we found a cave.

It´s 6 meters long. 




Finally we´ve had a lot of fun day because there are: wildlife and wonderful ecosystem and specially it is a very touristic place and visited by foreigners
